How to Update to Google Analytics 4

Time to Switch to Google Analytics 4

Google Universal Analytics Sunset

On July 1, 2023, Google will retire its current version of Google Analytics (Universal Analytics or UA) and replace it with Google Analytics 4 (GA4). After this date, all users of Google Analytics will be required to use the new GA4 platform.

What is Google Analytics 4?

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is the latest version of Google’s popular web analytics platform, designed for the future of measurement. GA4 provides a more comprehensive and accurate view of your customer’s journey, giving you a more detailed understanding of how customers engage with your website.

Additionally, GA4 is more closely integrated with other Google products, such as Google Ads and Google Tag Manager, giving you a more holistic view of your marketing efforts and allowing you to make more informed decisions about your marketing strategy.

How Does This Impact Your Website?

Until July 1, 2023, you can continue to use and collect new data in your old Google Universal Analytics properties.

After July 1, 2023, you’ll be able to access your previously processed data in your Universal Analytics property for at least six months. We know your data is important to you, and we strongly encourage you to export your historical reports during this time.

At some point in the near future, Google will announce a date in which your data within Universal Analytics will no longer be available.

Why Should You Migrate to GA4 Now?

We strongly encourage you to make the switch to Google Analytics 4 as soon as possible. Doing so will allow you to build the necessary historical data and usage in the new experience, preparing you for continuity once Universal Analytics is no longer available.
